National Encampment 2012

Members of the Department at National Encampment!

The 131st Encampment of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War has been completed. Representing the Department of Tennessee were Past Department Commanders Charles Engle, Jr., Douglas Fidler and Geoffrey Hintze.

Perley E. Mellor of the Department of Massachusetts was elected Commander-in-Chief, Ken L. Freshley of the Department of Ohio was elected Senior Vice Commander-in- Chief and Tad D Campbell of the Department of California & Pacific was elected Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief. Two Tennessee Brothers were given Awards – Charles Engle, Jr. and Douglas Fidler. Brother Engle was awarded for his contributions to the Charitable Foundation in which he exceeded the Sentinel level. Brother Fidler received two awards. For the fourth year in a row, he received the Aide de Camp award for recruiting new members. Brother Fidler also received a Meritorious Service Award from Commander-in-Chief Palmer.

The next Encampment will be hosted by the Department of Wisconsin and will be in Milwaukee, Wis. The 2014 Encampment will tentatively be in Atlanta. This is pending on signing the hotel contract.
